Jennifer A. Winegardner
Jennifer has been a criminal defense attorney, a civil litigator, appellate advocate, and a staff attorney at the Florida Supreme Court. She has worked at small firms and large, has represented indigents as well as multi-million dollar corporations.
She began her career at one of Cleveland's best white-collar criminal defense firms where she cut her teeth in Judge Lynn Toler's Cleveland Heights courtroom (https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Lynn_Toler) trying and winning several jury cases in her first year of practice. After moving to Tallahassee in 1997, she joined one of Florida's oldest and most prestigious firms, leaving behind her criminal defense career to become a civil litigator. She represented large and small business owners, property developers, and homeowners' associations.
In 2000, Jennifer accepted an offer to serve as career staff attorney to Justice Peggy Quince at the Florida Supreme Court. She spent nearly six years with Justice Quince and her team, reviewing complex civil and criminal cases, including death penalty appeals and post-conviction matters. She wrote bench briefs, drafted legal opinions, and honed her appellate advocate skills.
Jennifer returned to private practice in 2005 and during the real estate boom, worked with developers who were buying and selling real estate, creating condominiums, and redeveloping pockets of Tallahassee. She also resumed her civil litigation and appellate practice. In 2010, Jennifer joined Jodi Chase at the The Chase Law Firm, and in 2017, shifted her practice to Winegardner Law. She still works with developers and property owners, small businesses and associations, and maintains her real estate closing, litigation, and appellate practice.
